Optimisation of the gum line
An irregular gum line may have various causes. It is usually the outcome of earlier inflammatory diseases, traumas or deformities of the teeth. But changes to the gum line may also be the result of inadequate or suboptimal dental restoration work. Restoration of the gum line is possible through additive or subtractive procedures, and quite often through a combination of both techniques.

Especially before extensive restoration work in aesthetically critical regions, optimisation of the gum line should be an integral part of the overall rehabilitation planning.
